Despite the challenges we have all faced over the last year, we can never lose hope, according to Fulvio Valentinis.
“Turning to our faith might be one of the most purposeful things we can do during difficult times,” said the Chair of the WECDSB. “That’s why Nurturing Hope, this year’s theme for Catholic Education Week, is so important. As Catholics, we all need to maintain the courage of our convictions, to remember the fundamental message of Jesus, and to never lose hope that we can get through this by drawing upon our faith in God.”
Catholic Education Week is celebrated annually by Catholic school communities across Ontario, and this year’s events run from May 2-7.
“This is a wonderful time to acknowledge and celebrate everything that our students, our staff, and our families do to continue nurturing hope in our communities,” said Director of Education Terry Lyons. “Students from across our system will be taking part in activities that bring them closer to their faith and that help remind all of us about how grateful we are for publicly funded Catholic education in Ontario.”
Director Lyons also encouraged all staff, students, and families to check out this great resource kit provided by the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association, which includes suggested family activities for nurturing hope, a list of daily themes, music and daily prayer services.
He also encouraged them to watch this video message from Bishop Fabbro. You can also view a French version of his message here.
