Land Acknowledgement

Bendigen, Boozhoo, Aanii (Welcome, Hello, Friendly hello)

Preface

A Land Acknowledgement is a formal statement that recognizes the unique and enduring relationship that exists between Indigenous Peoples and their traditional territories. To recognize the land is an expression of gratitude and appreciation to those whose territory you reside on and a way of honouring the Indigenous people who have been living and working on the land from time immemorial.

Land Acknowledgement

While it is a well-traveled land, we would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the ancestral territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations: comprised of the Ojibwe (oh-jib-way), the Odawa (oh-dow-wah), and the Potawatomi (pah-tah-wah-toe-mee). We are grateful to work, learn and live in this area.
