Community Use of Schools

Community Use of Schools is an initiative that supports affordable access to school space outside of school hours for not-for-profit community groups and as such the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board extends the use of our school facilities to our community.

COVID-19 Update - March 21, 2022

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is pleased to advise permits for outdoor rentals are available beginning May 15, 2022 through October 31, 2022.  Please follow the link below to submit outdoor permit requests.  As for indoor rentals, we are aiming to welcome community partners back for the 2022 - 2023 Rental Season, beginning October 2022.  We continue to prioritize the health and safety of all users and thank you for your patience over the past two years.



How to Rent School Space

All rentals should be requested through the Facilities Services Department.  Please do not contact the schools directly.

Before beginning the facility rental process, please ensure that you are authorized by your organization to rent facilities.

You must provide the following information:

  • A valid e-mail address, plus password
  • A valid credit card or provide cheque for balance in full 1 week prior to the commencement of your event
  • A copy of the certificate of insurance in the amount of $2 million for Liability Insurance naming the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board as an additional insured. Groups that do not carry liability insurance can purchase liability insurance through the WECDSB. The cost of the liability insurance will be added to the Permit cost.
  • You must agree to the terms and conditions before your permit will be granted

Rental Periods

Schools shall be made available for rental from October 1st to June 15th.  Summer rentals commence the first day after Canada Day holiday, as observed by the Board and its Unions, to the second week of August.  Outdoor facilities will be available for rental from May 15th to October 31st.

School facilities will not be made available for rental purposes during all school holidays, all Board Professional Days and when schools are closed due to inclement weather.


Spaces Available

Gymnasiums, classrooms (without computers), cafeteria, washrooms, parking lots, soccer fields, baseball fields, tennis courts, athletic tracks are available for rent, subject to availability.  Chapels are only available upon permission granted by the Diocese.

Monday to Thursday: 6:00pm - 10:30pm
Saturday - Please call for times
Mondays & Wednesdays: 7:00pm -10:30pm
Tuesday & Thursdays: 9:00pm - 10:30pm
Saturday - Please call for times


*Schools will not generally be available for rentals on Friday evenings or Sunday and would be subject to special approval by the Senior Manager - Facilities Services or designate.  For school times and space available please contact the Facilities Services Department.

Note: Not-For-Profit local community groups whose activities directly involve children and youth (eg. Scouts, Guides, YMCA, etc.), recognized children’s sports and recreation service providers, (as per MTR’s Recognition Criteria), are eligible for reduced rates.
