The Ministry of Education has created a Community Planning and Partnerships Guidelines (CPPG) for all school boards. These guidelines provide a framework for school boards to create and maintain community partnerships, increase school board operational efficiencies and address underutilized school spaces, while also focusing on student well-being and academic achievement.
In compliance with the Ministry of Education’s Community Planning and Partnership Guidelines, the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) has developed Policy B: 08 Community Planning and Partnerships and Administrative Procedure Pr B: 08 Community Planning and Partnerships.
WECDSB wishes to support student achievement as well as student safety. Within this context, the intent of community partnerships is to:
- Reduce operating costs for our school boards and government;
- Improve services and supports available to our students;
- Strengthen relationships between WECDSB, community partners and the public;
- Maximize use of public infrastructure through increased flexibility and utilization; and
- Provide a foundation for improved service delivery for communities.
Community consultation on Community Partnerships is held on an annual basis or before the announcement of a Pupil Accommodation Review and/or the construction of a new school. This consultation will be an opportunity for the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board to exchange information with interested facility partners regarding available space(s) and/or potential co-build projects and community needs. Please refer to the list of potential partnership sites.
