English as a Second Language

Helping new Canadians learn English and earn their education is what we do best. Whether you’re an adult, a high school student, or an elementary student we can assess your current language skills and your educational needs and place you in a credited program that will match your goals and get you on your way to fulfilling your ambitions.

The WECDSB is committed to providing innovative and culturally relevant programming to improve proficiency for English Language Learners so they can meet their goals and fully participate in and contribute to Canadian society. We work collaboratively with community partners to develop programs and services that promote student achievement and well-being. 

We provide a variety of outstanding learning experiences, including:

  • ESL (English as a Second Language) and ELD (English Literacy Development) courses at secondary schools
  • ESL Support Teachers and SWIS (Settlement Workers in Schools)
  • Culturally Responsive Resources and Instructional Strategies
  • Small group instruction
