Focus on Youth

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is pleased to be a part of the Focus on Youth summer program for children and youth.

The program is a partnership between the Ontario Ministry of Education, school boards and local not-for-profit community groups.

School boards collaborate with community organizations to deliver initiatives aimed at promoting engagement by offering youth employment/leadership opportunities, including by hiring youth to facilitate pro-social activities for younger students in their communities.

High school students participating in the FOY Program are provided with paid pre-employment and leadership skills-building training, in addition to paid summer employment. Special consideration is given to youth who face personal challenges and barriers to employment due to circumstances directly linked to systemic inequality, racism and discrimination, and their lived experiences of socio-economic disadvantage.

Community Group Application Process

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board is now accepting applications from not-for-profit community organizations wishing to participate in the 2025 Focus on Youth initiative.  Focus on Youth is planned to run for 6 weeks between July 7 and August 15, 2025.

Applications must be received no later than Friday, February 28, 2025 to be considered.
