The Muskoka Woods Experience

For more than 26 years, Grade 8 students have been travelling to Muskoka to learn how to become leaders through faith-based outdoor activities.

Muskoka Woods Experience is scheduled to take place from October 14th to October 21st, 2022. Please contact your principal for additional details. 


The History of Muskoka Woods

 The experience began in 1994 with one Grade 8 class and a yellow school bus travelling 550 km to the Muskoka Woods Resort, which is located on over 1,000 beautiful wooded acres and 2,800 feet of shoreline on Lake Rosseau, in the heart of the Muskoka Lakes Region. Since then the experience has evolved into a leadership opportunity for every Grade 8 student and every high school student enrolled in a  leadership program within the WECDSB. 

Muskoka Woods provides the ideal environment to challenge students through activity, recreation, and faith-based education, in a beautiful outdoor setting. The purpose of the experience is simple:

  • promote the awareness and importance of youth participation in outdoor recreational activities
  • provide our students with the opportunity for leadership training and the development of cooperative skills (teamwork)
  • provide our students with the opportunity for personal growth and confidence through recreational activities - "challenge by choice"
  • tie it all together in a Catholic environment that is supportive, encouraging and that challenges students and staff to "be their best" …The Muskoka Spirit

Muskoka Woods is a fun-filled experience that spans three days where students participate in many activities such as:
  • Balance Beam
  • High Ropes
  • Giant Swing
  • Nature Hike
  • Scooter and Longboards
  • Team Building Games
  • Archery
  • Leisure Sports
  • Zipline
