The WECDSB is taking some meaningful steps towards making equity a fundamental part of its school board culture.

Today we are launching our Equity Action Plan, which outlines what our school board will do at all levels of the organization to ensure that equity permeates our classrooms, school communities, and central offices.

Beginning Nov. 25, we’ll launch our Know Me student census survey which will help us to identify, eliminate and respond to systemic barriers to student success, create more equitable and inclusive school environments, and further support student achievement and well-being in targeted and intentional ways.

In addition to our Equity Action Plan and the Know Me survey, we’re also launching a new equity section of our website, which will include content that speaks to the diversity of culture, race, ability, gender identity, religion and ethnicity reflected and celebrated in our Catholic schools.

Check out this great video message from Emelda Byrne, our Director of Education, which explains everything we are doing to help create more equity in our schools.
