Learning a second or third language is a wonderful gift for a child.
“It’s a great way to encourage personal growth and cultural identity, but at the same time, to develop an appreciation for the diversity of our community,” said Dan Fister, the board’s Executive Superintendent of Innovation and Experiential Learning. “And knowing more languages opens up a world of employment opportunities in the future.”
That’s why the WECDSB is once again offering free Saturday morning language classes to all of our elementary students. Qualified language experts will teach Italian, Arabic, Filipino, Vietnamese, Spanish, Hungarian, Portuguese, Croatian and Polish at a variety of locations throughout Windsor and Leamington.
The free classes begin Sept. 21 and run through to May 30. Registration for most of the classes will take place at the instruction sites on Sept. 14, except for Polish classes, which is on Sept. 15. Parents can fill out a form in advance and bring it with them on registration day.
