For Students

Mental Health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being, which means it affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress in our lives, relate to others, and what choices we make. When we experience good mental health, it doesn’t mean we are always in a good mood, nor does it prevent the stresses of life from coming our way.  But, it does help us cope with them so we can continue to engage productively in our everyday lives.

This Student section is designed to give you information about mental health, how you can support  good mental health, and, if you are concerned about your own mental health or that of a friend, where to turn to for help.

Don't forget, you can always speak with a teacher, principal or someone in the school. They are a well-positioned partner who can help with your questions and concerns.

School Mental Health Ontario

School Mental Health Ontario has recently launched a new student-facing website designed to provide easy access to tools and supports for understanding your own mental health as well as how to help a friend who may be struggling.

SMHO offers great information about issues of concern to young people such as coping with stress, self-care, how to ask for help, 2S/LGBTQIA+managing peer influences (ex. vaping, social media), and more.
