Morris familyBack in 1998 Makenzie Van Eyk - then Makenzie Morris - was a Grade 4 student at St. John the Baptist Catholic Elementary School.

Inspired by the classic children's book Paddle to the Sea, her class was assigned to write a short assignment about the Great Lakes. The students then placed their messages in bottles, took them down to the Belle River pier, and threw them into Lake St. Clair.

About 26 years later, a kindergarten student from St. John the Baptist found Makenzie's bottle and brought it to the school - where her two children are currently enrolled.
