School Absence Reporting

According to the Ontario Ministry of Education, school boards are required to report staff and student absences to their local public health unit when they exceed 30 percent of the school’s overall population.

School principals are required to report their daily absence percentage rates to the Ministry of Education daily. These rates are collated and reported to the public the following day.

Please note that these numbers reflect the school’s overall absence rate for both staff and students and may or may not be related to COVID-19.

In the interest of keeping parents informed, in collaboration with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, school principals will notify their school communities when they are experiencing high rates of absence due to illness.

A complete list of school absence rates can be found here. In the event that we are required to close any schools, we will post that information here.
