Students who face personal challenges and barriers to employment are now gaining valuable work and life experience thanks to community minded agencies and employers who are providing them opportunity through the Focus on Youth program.
A partnership between the Ontario Ministry of Education, school boards, and local not-for-profit community groups, the Focus on Youth Program provides Grade 11 and 12 students with opportunities for a positive transition to adulthood by creating high quality employment experiences for them.
Students work at a not-for-profit community organization for six weeks in the summer (July 8 - Aug. 16) for seven hours per day. Students are visited by a FOY Mentor on a regular basis to provide support and guidance.
The WECDSB is currently accepting applications from community organizations interested in providing students with these opportunities this summer.

The student application process will be open from Feb. 28 to March 27, 2024
