The work shown in the Gallery is sections from a large fabric piece. Each student worked on a section of fabric. The sections were then combined to form one work.

Various aspects of African land and the culture are included. Fabric, rope, twine and paper were used.

Students studied the work of various African cultures and included a variety of symbols on found objects. Some of the work shows variations on African patterns that change and become a contemporary expression of a traditional form.

Colours used are those found in the land and the traditional works in Egypt and Kenya.
