Process

The clay mural consists of ----pieces of clay individually created by students in grades 10, 11 and 12 at Catholic Central High School in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The theme chosen for the work was “Creation”. Students made pieces representing different elements in nature.
Students designed their section on paper and then transferred it to the clay using a paper stencil. Once the pieces were carved in relief into the clay, the work was bisque fired, a glaze was applied, and the piece was fired in the kiln a second time. When all the pieces were made, the final plan was designed and transferred to the wall. The clay pieces were cemented to the brick and the copper was added.
