The regular school day portion of the Full Day Kindergarten Program (FDK) for four and five-year-olds is part of Ontario's publicly funded school system. Select schools will be offering an Extended Day Program as well; where the school community is in support of on-site before and after school care on a fee for service basis. This service will be considered if twenty or more children demonstrate an interest in registering in the program on a consistent basis. Each year in February, during Kindergarten Registration, surveys are circulated to parents in school communities that are currently offering Full Day Kindergarten Programs or are scheduled to launch a Full Day Kindergarten Program in September. For the 2012-13 school year, the Extended Day Program will be offered through third party partnerships with child care providers in our community.

For the 2012-13 school-year, Extended Day Programs will be offered at the following school locations:

• Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School, Windsor
• Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic School, Stoney Point
• St. Angela Catholic School, Windsor
• St. John the Baptist Catholic School, Belle River
• Holy Name Catholic Elementary School, Essex
• Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Elementary School, Windsor
• Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School, LaSalle
• St. Christopher Catholic Elementary School, Windsor
• St. John Brebeuf Catholic Elementary School, Kingsville
• St. John the Evangelist Catholic Elementary School, Woodslee
• St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School, River Canard
• St. Peter Catholic Elementary School, Tecumseh
• St. Rose Catholic Elementary School, Windsor

These 13 locations were selected based on survey results. Most of these schools had existing Before and After School Programs prior to the launch of Full Day Kindergarten. The other Full Day Kindergarten sites will not offer the extended day program because it is not viable at this time. The survey procedure will be launched again in the 2012-2013 school year to secure interest in the establishment of an extended day program. If you would like to register your interest in establishing an Extended Day Program at your school please complete the survey posted at www.wecdsb.on.ca under the icon – "Before & After School Child Care At Your School". For a hard copy of the survey please contact your Catholic school and return the completed survey to the school Principal.

• The Extended Day Program is open to all students in Kindergarten attending the school offering a Full Day Kindergarten Program. The Child Care Programs located in schools also offer a program for students in Grade One- through Grade Six.
• The Extended Day Program will run during the school year from 6:30 a.m. until bell time, and from bell time to 6:00 p.m. Please note that bell times vary from school to school.
• The Extended Day Program is available on instructional and non-instructional days
• Non-instructional Day Program will be offered from 6:30am to 6:00 p.m. on the following days for the 2012/2013 school year:
  • The following Professional Development Days: September 21, 2012, November 16, 2012, January 18, 2013, February 8, 2013, June 7, 2013 and June 28, 2013
  • Winter Break - December 24, 2012 - to January 4, 2013
  • March Break - March 11, 2013 - to March 15, 2013
• Extended Day Program service will not be provided on the following days:
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Extended Day Program Fees For The 2012-2013 School Year

Proposed fees are subject to change. Extended Day Programs may not operate in the upcoming school year if there are too few students enrolled.

Parents interested in registering their child for the Extended Day Program are asked to contact the Child Care provider directly. Parents who wish to have their child attend the before and after school extended day program at their school, are required to provide transportation to and from school each day.

In keeping with existing Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board policies and procedures regarding school boundaries and since the program will eventually be implemented in all schools, only students residing within the boundaries of the schools offering the Full Day Kindergarten Program will be admitted to the Full Day Kindergarten Program.
