2010 Municipal Elections

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board, like every school Board in Ontario, is governed by a Board of Trustees. They are elected by separate school taxpayers every four years during municipal elections and are directly accountable to the community. The current nine trustees were elected to serve from December 1, 2006 to November 30, 2010.

The next Municipal Election takes place on October 25, 2010, when elected trustees will serve a four-year term beginning December 1, 2010 to November 30, 2014.

Five trustees will be elected within the City of Windsor representing electoral ward boundaries as follows:

  • Wards: 1 and 10
  • Wards: 2 and 9
  • Wards: 3 and 4
  • Wards: 5 and 8
  • Wards: 6 and 7

Four trustees will be elected to represent areas within the County of Essex in accordance to the following electoral boundaries:

  • Area 1: LaSalle, Amherstburg
  • Area 2: Essex, Kingsville, Leamington
  • Area 3: Lakeshore
  • Area 4: Tecumseh

School trustees are the critical link between communities and school boards. They ensure schools meet the diverse needs of students within their local communities. Together, trustees are responsible to their communities for the quality of education provided in local Catholic schools within an approved financial framework.

In addition to their responsibilities to the provision of quality Catholic education at the local level, our trustees have the added responsibility of furthering the mission of Catholic education and the broader mission of the Catholic Church.

Catholic School Boards need trustees who:

  • Are committed to sustaining and promoting Catholic education.
  • Have a vision of Catholic education that is Christ oriented.
  • Are prepared to answer the call to serve in the ministry of trusteeship.
  • Are committed to educating students in the Roman Catholic tradition.
  • Are willing to work with all partners within and beyond the Catholic education community.
  • Are willing to devote time to prayer and reflection, to meetings, to public functions and to addressing concerns of Catholic school voters.
